Your BMR is not your maintaince calories. BMR is the amount of calories your body needs just to function. Its recommended you at least eat that, but to each their own.

Your BMR is based on Height, weight and age and how active your day is. It sounds like yours is calculated as being totally sedentary ( hardly move throughout the day) 1500 cal is what your body needs to survive. If you exercise, are on your feet all day or stay active then you start burning more calories and should add those to your diet.

If you add your exercise to your log, then don't count it in your activity level. For your activity level, count your general lifestyle.

    Thanks!
  • Your BMR is only the calories you would burn if you did nothing all day. Your TDEE is a better guideline. Check out this website:
    http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/bmr/

Type in your info, and your activity levels, and it can give you an estimate for TDEE.

    Per this page:

    http://www.myfitnesspal.com/tools/bmr-calculator

"Your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is an estimate of how many calories you'd burn if you were to do nothing but rest for 24 hours."

I am guessing you do more than just lay in bed resting for 24 hours per day!

My BMR is about 1400 but I typically burn about 2200 in a day once I count exercise and general walking around. So for me to have a calorie deficit of 500 per day (which makes me loose 1 lb per week) I need to eat about 1700 calories a day. I have been doing this since January and have lost almost exactly 1 lb per week.
