Help. My diary?

Ok, my diary is private, BUT.... when I go to the bottom and click complete for the day, each day it tells me something different for what I will weigh in 5 weeks. I am never going over my calories, but still, one day it says a higher weight, and then another day a lower weight. I did exercise yesterday more than I did today, and today's weight is higher, and I haven't even eaten all of my calories yet. I'm really confused because I figured that even without exercise, if I stay under the recommended 1200 calories per day, shouldn't I still lose weight? But I'm not saying I am not exercising, I am, just my legs really hurt today. I may still do something today such as a home video and weights but I guess this put me in a panic. Help is appreciated, thank you :)

You should actually be eating more than 1200 calories. Read this:

Oh really? More than 1200? When I put all of my information in, it gave me 1200 as my daily intake. I will read this now. thank you!

Mine says different everyday also. This is not something to worry about and is a projected goal based on the macro's of what you have eaten. Say if you have a day with a lot of more fat/cholestrol than you goals well as an example your projected weight for that particular day is going to be higher than say a day when you are under.

Weight loss is not linear and is a process over months, not just one day. I wouldnt worry to much about it, if you stick to a healthy diet and exercise you will lose weight.

I suggest you take your measurements, as you arent always going to lose weight every week in and out, I've gone, up and down, stayed the same but I can visibly see the changes even though the scale isnt always moving downwards.

    Hope this helps

Yup! Unless you're really short, your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is probably higher than 1200. It's important to eat that amount of calories so that your body can get the nutrients and energy it needs.

Also, MFP varies by a little bit on its prediction each day you finish your diary. I wouldn't worry!

Edit: If it's easier for you to do it this way, MyFitnessPal has a calculator under the "Tools" tab to find out what your BMR is.

Hi Skinnylion, yes, I'll try that, and thank you for the information. No, I'm not really short, I'm 5'8" lol... so I would guess my BMR is probably 1200 too?

OK the calculator told me my BMR was 1,653 (that's the total calories I would burn if I stayed in bed all day? Really?)

Right, if you were in a coma that's how much energy you would need to maintain your weight. I think the rule of thumb is to add 100 (or more) calories to that since you're living and active. That means you should probably be eating ~1700 calories a day, not 1200.

If you work out and burn 300 calories at the gym, then add that exercise to your diary and be sure to eat those extra 300 calories too. That's 2,000 total consumed. I know it seems weird, but you can still lose weight by eating that much.

    Correct.

This is the energy from bodily functions, digestion, breathing, nail and hair growth etc.
