Hip Flexors?

Anyone know any good stretches, like amazing and functional stretches? Haha. I've started jogging/running (again!) and sometimes I notice a bit of soreness from my back, lower back/bum area on the side. It's only one side too. I also have a long leg discrepancy, the right side is longer by almost an in or 2. I wonder if that's it as well. I stopped going to PT a couple of years ago and never completed treatment. Just was wondering. Although they're not shin splints, it's annoying. Any advice/thoughts are helpful!! Thanks in advance!

Here's one link that has a couple stretches as well as some strengthening exercise for hip flexors: http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-241-285--13543-0,00.html

Whenever I have a running related question, I just go to Runner's World and type it in the search bar. Good luck!

I have the sme problem with sore hip flexors. One exercise the physio gave me is to lie on your side, and bring the foot on your top leg up to the other knee. Keeping it there, lift the knee of the top leg up and lower it down again in reps. I hope that makes sense, its a little hard to explain.

Also good stretches are to lift one foot up onto a surface which is about hip height. You will need to have your knee bent to do this. So one leg is straight and holding all of your weight and the other one is bent at the knee with the foot on a chair or stool. Then slowly bend your body forward towards the foot until you can feel it stretching. Hold and repeat. Hopefully I have explained and helped a little.

OMG, thank you so much for that link! My shorter leg is the left side and that's the side that hurts. I recently stepped on a snake and tossed my shoes WITH my inserts/left them on the side of the road. Needless to say, when I went back the next morning they weren't there, sans inserts as well. I think it's because I haven't ran in months and because my leg is getting readjusted to no insert! Ahh. TY TY so much! Sucks.
