pleaseee help with my fitbit??!

Ok so I have no idea how to use this darn thing. I just got it last night and brought it with me to zumba class! It showed I burned 671 calories... cool right? Well I synced it and it gave me no credit for calories burned last night??? Then this morning I clip it on and have made 6 steps and I burned 551 cal? WTF?:grumble: Do I need to clear it out every morning? Also do I start and stop it every time I do cardio (I think I read that some where?) Any help is welcomed...I'm terrible with new gadgets and then add modern technology and I'm doomed!!! Thanks- Kim

First you should check that you've properly linked your fitbit to MFP. I would go to the help menu and look up the extensive section of fitbit help. If that doesn't work I would unlink and then link the fb to MFP again. I've had that problem before and it worked for me.

You've burned 551 calories by the time you wake up just from sleeping. I've burned 485 cals this morning and it's only 7:59AM. You should not try to clear out or reset the calories.

You can start and stop it everytime you do cardio and it will track the length of time and the calories burned as long is it's cardio that the fb can track (obviously it doesn't track things like bike riding, rowing, etc).

I really suggest reading through all the fb help here on MFP. I love my fb, so good luck!

Also, once you properly link your FitBit to your MFP account, you can log your workout and it will ask you what time you started. I've been using my FitBit for 2 months now and I absolutely LOVE it.

It took my fitbit a day or two to sync with MFP and even once it is synced to MFP, it does not give immediate credit for calories. I have noticed that my calories left from the night before change over night. Did you log your activity on the fitbit website? That is the key. You'll figure it out, I love my fitbit!

Yeah I have heard great things about it...but now I'm thinking why did I spend my money one THIS:grumble:

So ?... if I never touch a button on the fitbit, it should clock any movement? calories burned? w/out starting and stopping right?

I thought you were only suppose to use MFP to log food and exercise?

It tracks all calories during the day, even just to breathe. It doesn't add calories to map until you go above the calories in your map settings.

Correct. Push start and stop for tracking your sleep at least.

The only time I touch that button is to set it for when I go to sleep and when I wake up, sometimes during the day ill check to see how many steps I have mastered but other than that, I just wear it. I love it! It does get used to how it works though, I have had mine 3 wks and still don't know all about it!

The calories on the fitbit you have burned are the combined calories of your BMR as well as the steps and stairs climbed. The only time you need to push that button on your fitbit is to cycle through time, steps, miles, calories burned, stairs climbed, and the flower that shows you how active you have been. The fitbit syncs when you come within range of the docking station.

Add me as a friend if you are having trouble. I have had mine for almost 3 months and it has been an asset in my weight loss.

??? What do you mean...doesn't add calories to "map" until you go above....

I've been using my fitbit for a week. The only time I touch it is to set the stop watch function when I go to bed at night and then again when I get up in the morning so that I cn track my sleep. I have it synched with mfp. Sometimes it takes a few minutes for the calorie adjustment shows up. I only enter activities and food on mfp but the activities show up on the activity graph on the fitbit site. I've only had one problem so far. I wore it while jet skiing last weekend and when I got off, it showed that I had climber 32 flights of stairs (I guess from the bouncing motion?) In the future, I know to take it off before riding.

I've been using my fitbit for a couple of months and love it. I take it off when I do exercise and manually enter my workout. Do you where it through your exercise and just input the time of your exercise? If so on MFP or the Fitbit website?

I love my fitbit but I'm not 100% sure I completely understand how it works.

    1) wear it all the time
    2) don't need to touch any buttons!
    3) log all food and exercise on MFP
    4) any other important advise...?

So, do you all recommend leaving it on during a workout (such as running or interval training) and then logging your start/stop time on mfp? I, too, just got this last night and I am trying to figure it all out!

Why would you take it off during exercise, this is the reason to have it on?
