I Posted this in a group but thought it's good info for everyone that supplements B-12 so I wanted to post it here.I was doing some checking up on my vitamins and found out something interesting about B-12 there are two kinds and one does not absorb as well in the body as the other. Surprisingly most companies that make B-12 in the states do not use the better kind. There is Cyanocobalamin which most companies use and Methylcobalamin which is the on that is recommended for better absorption. I cut a snippet from an article and I also will put the cite address so you can read more if you like. I did read about B-12 in several places and they all seem to say the same thing.

"Compared with cyanocobalamin, it appears that methylcobalamin is better absorbed and retained in higher amounts within your tissues. In simple terms, they are used much more effectively."

There is lots more info but I just wanted to get the word out. No point in a taking a vitamin that doesn't absorb well right.
Whole foods has a good one made by Jarrow formulas. It's chewable which they recommend and pretty yummy I must say.
I take the Methyl B-12 1000mcg(it's extremely hard to overdose on B-12). I take one a day. If anyone knows any info I might not about b-12 or any other kind of vitamins please share what you know!

I was diagnosed having low B12 via blood work performed by my doctor. I was put on a supplement and re-tested 3 months later and now have perfect B12 levels. I use Nature Made brand B12. I am not sure of the kind used in Nature Made but I know it definitely works since my blood tests have proven it.

Thanks for the info, I will have to look into this.

Did they put you on a supplement and then after you got tested you started taking the Nature Made(they use cyano from what I saw) or have you been taking the nature made since they said you needed a supplement and then you got tested? Also do you eat meat or are you a veggie? Thanks! I am a veggie for the most part so I don't get a lot of b-12 through my diet. Haha I need all the absorption I can get. But for supplementation as an additional to a diet with b-12 in the cyano one is probably just fine.
