I don't understand this. How will I create a deficit to lose weight this way? Please help!

For example: your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) is 2000. MFP has you eating 1500 creating a 500 calorie deficit. You exercise and burn off an additional 400 so really your TDEE is 2400. You would eat those back so that your net deficit is still -500. Not 900. You would eat 1900 that day instead of 1500. If you don't work out, don't eat back the calories.0
