I'm wondering if me doing Leslie Sansone's 5 mile dvd is ok for me to do day after day? I would like it to be my main exercise. But also I like to get outside one or two days a week to mow lawn with the gas powered push mower.

I like to do that dvd for about 10 miles a day. My sister was telling me that we need to switch things up a bit sometimes to keep loosing, but she never lost as much as I'm trying to loose. She's always been in pretty good shape.

Well, it won't hurt. But it's good to do multiple different exercises. The human body has something called muscle memory. When you do an activity a lot, your muscles become more efficient at it. Now for most things (like playing piano, or doing a job) this is good, but for exercise, this is bad, because as a muscle becomes more efficient, it uses less energy (burns less calories).

So best to change up what you do every 6 weeks or so, also good to do 2 or 3 different types of exercise every week.

BUT, doing 1 type of cardio won't hurt. Besides the possibility of repetitive stress syndrome that is. If you do a type of exercise all the time, and if there is stress on the bones, muscles, or joints you can develop stress fractures or weakening of the ligaments and connective tissue. You'd know it if this happened though, there's usually quite a bit of pain that accompanies this.

Remember too that you don't have to completely change what you're doing to continue to get results. You can add hand weights to a walking workout (I'm taking a guess at what that DVD is), and increase the weight every few weeks as it starts to feel easier. Or, you can do the workout longer, or try and add things like jumping jacks or pushups or something like that at intervals throughout the DVD.

You'll know when you need to change it up when you don't feel like you worked out at all the next day. You should always be able to feel it. I don't mean like as in feeling pain, but your muscles should be reminding you of what you did, you know?
