Direct impact of calories

Topic should be Direct *import* of calories but I can't correct it or delete and recreate this post. MFP developers, why?
I'd like a straight integration with Polar but since I can't get one and I can't make one myself since I can't get access to the MFP API then I'm thinking maybe I should just simplify my input. Does anyone see any issues with just creating a "Generic" cardio exercise and entering only total calories burned as reported by HRM?
I considered a "Generic Cardio" and "Generic Strength" exercise but I don't see a point since I believe the only reason they distinguish is to help with calculating calories burned but since I'll be entering them in directly I don't think it will make much of a difference.
