I keep going back and forth, back and forth on buying a Fitbit. I know some people whose weight loss has improved significantly with a BodyBugg. Has the Fitbit changed your weight loss at all?

I have lost 10 pounds in the one month that I've had my fitbit. I was using a hrm and wasn't losing any. I have to say it was a great way to spend 100$. I compete in friendly competitions on their site and earndit. I LOVE IT.0

If you already have a pedometer though, is there a difference?
I just ordered a Polar HRM and would use that for gym workouts.0 -
I LOVE MINE!!
I got it on sale at 24 hr fitness for $50.. I had heard great things and decided to try it out.. Now I can’t live without it… It synchs to MFP so you can track your foods and activities at the same time. It also tracks your sleep, so you can actually see why you are down some days.. (lack of sleep). What I think I love the most if that it tracks my “activities” so when I go running it actually tracks how far I ran, the pace and the time and approx calories burned.
Second and best part is that when I’m out I can approximate how many calories I have remaining to eat, given that it gives you how many cals you’ve burned during the day and with MFP, you know how many cals you’ve consumed..0 -
the difference is that you have one place to track everything you do.. eat, workout, cals burned... the whole thing on one site..0

I think they seem to be a very good idea, have checked all what it does and doesnt do but am still unsure, in the back of my mind i think mabe its just a fad thing maybe just a normal step monitor will still give you the information you need to keep active.
Also with fitbit it tracks your sleep too and lots more maybe it goes into too much.
i also think that if it helps a certain amount of people then thats a good thin as we all need as much help as we can get lol0 -
I love my FitBit.. I have had it for a year now and wear it day and night. It not only syncs with this website (which I use all the time), but with many others too! I also sync it with "MapMyWalk/Run". When you log your food into "myfitnesspal" and use your Fitbit when you work out, it calculates your calories and lets you know if you should increase/decrease based on your weight loss goals and activity level for that day.
Other great things about FitBit is.
1. The size....plus you can wear it anywhere on your clothes
2. It charges really quickly and the charge will last several days
3. If the base unit is connected to your computer, all you need to do is walk by it and it sync's
4. It tracks your sleep patterns
5. You can access your info from any device (apple, android or windows)
6. It really motivates me to make sure I get my 10K steps a day, and helps with my weight management goals.
The only con for me is that I have lost mine twice. Once if flipped off the waist band off my workout pants when I was pulling them up at the same time I was flushing the loo (and yes, it flushed away) You have to be mindful where you wear it. I have been wearing mine on the bottom of my shirt.
If you have any other questions...please post. :happy:0 -
Have you felt that it's helped you with weight loss?0

I love my Fitbit - I have been using mine for about a month - maybe only 3 weeks or so, and I haven't been on the scale yet... But I can say that I love the competition of it. I know two other people in real life who have a Fitbit, and several friends on the Fitbit website and on here - and the competition is really what keeps me going.
It is more than just a pedometer - it will also track calories burned (based on your BMR and activity) and also the number of floors you have climbed every day, and I find that is most motivating for me. I love syncing my fitbit at night and seeing what wondrous "thing" I have climbed today. My best day was the Eiffel tower, I think, or maybe the Angkor Wat in Thailand, not sure.....
Is it as good as an HRM? No - and it's not supposed to be in the same league, really, as an HRM. But it has way more functionality than just any old pedometer. In my opinion, it is worth the $100 I spent on it.0 -
given that I can see how many cals I've consumed during the day at any time... when I go out to dinner it makes me more mindful of what I can or can't eat.. I've had mine for almost a months (when I started actually working out) and I think it has helped me out a lot..0

Love my Fitbit and yes I think it's helpiong with weight loss - its a motivational "trick" which helps me to want to go out for the actual excersise portion of my Day and also makes me compete with myself. Importantly, it prompts me to up my "incidental" movement too - that counts for extra calorie burning.0

make sure you get the FitBit ultra. It has an altimeter so counts stairs and you get credit for walking up hills. It has helped me a lot. My daughter thought I was nuts last night because I sudden l started walking up and down the stairs then took a walk late evening. Well, I realized I was soooo close to earning another couple badges. :-)
It also syncs with MFP.0 -
The Fitbit One has changed my life - I lost 40 pounds with this little piece of plastic. Now I have started my own buddy support system and am just loving the motivation - 20 more pounds to go! I will get there! :happy:0

I got a fitbit zip for myself and my husband for under $50 each (you can get them new on ebay and other online sources for less than list). It logs my steps and calories, integrates seamlessly with MFP, and has a good online site.
I really like it because it give me an accurate measure of exercise calories (I am not a gym bunny - I just walk around) and motivates me to keep moving. I used to use a regular pedometer. The integration is worth the money to me.
I decided I did not need sleep monitors, stairs, lights, or anything else. I do also use it as a pocketwatch.
It helped me weight loss by increasing motivation to move and hit my step goals and also by making exercise cals more accurate.0 -

There's a whole Fitbit group; you may want to check that out. :-)
What I like about gadget-assisted weight control is that everything's out there in the open. There are numbers; there are targets to meet. You can see them. It's much more concrete than "you should exercise more" or "don't eat so many cookies".0
