tattoo count

in all of the tattoo threads, people say "i have 17" or "12" or "57" tattoos.

I have entire pieces. Do each sleeves/shoulders combo just count as "1"?

    i say if they touch they only count as one

    I technically have 3, because I've been under the needle 3 times. But one is a cover. So I say I have 2

    "Technically" I have 4. But 2 have been connected, so I'm guessing I've got 3? But the rest of my tattoos will be large pieces, no more little bitty ones.

    I stopped counting years and years ago. In the end I'll only have one anyway.

    If I had a sleeve, I would say I have 4 tattoo's and a sleeve. I think a sleeve is a completely different animal and needs to be classified separately..

    I personally just tell people that I'm "tattooed", I've given up on counting to figure out how many I have.

    I had 6 small pieces turned into a shoulder 1/3 sleeve on my left arm, so it went from 6 to 1, which turned my count from 15 or so to like 7. That's just dumb.

    At this point, I think tattooed is the best descriptor for both you and I.

    I have five unconnected, so I count. But, if someone has a sleeve I just count as one awesome tattoo!

    I have a HUGE amount of appreciation for your pain tolerance level. Blows my mind. I did six hours on Sunday and am dying still.

    Three days in and I'm still hobbling around and whining my *kitten* off.

    Agreed! I have 8, but one is being removed. If I had a sleeve, half sleeve, 3/4 sleeve, back piece, etc. I would state that and then add the other ones.
