Hey guys!

Anyone here set a goal of competing in a figure comp. when you were slightly overweight? If so, how long did it take to get 'competition ready'? how long did you work out each day? How often" strenght vs cardio? How many net calories?
Thank you !

Bump! I don't see myself actually competing, but I definitely want see these results! I'm getting into weight lifting now and LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!

www.simplyshredded.com and www.bodybuilding.com both have given me some great information!

I don't think I could ever be dedicated enough to eat as clean as competitors do leading up to competitions, but I'd love to get those kind of results!

Also, the owner of our local NutriShop is a competitor and he has my husband and I on protein post work out and we also drink amino acid before and during our workout.

Sorry, just ran across this now. :) I am competing in my first figure competition in a little over a week. Honestly, I thought I only had about 15 pounds to lose to compete when I started training back in January, but I've ended up losing 23 pounds since then, 15 of those since I started working with a coach in mid-April. Unfortunately, since I do work with a coach that I pay for my workout program, I'm not allowed to share details of my lifts and such, but my diary is public and you can get an idea of what a figure competitor diet looks like. I think the biggest mistake I made starting out was underestimating how much weight I really needed to lose to take the stage, and I wasn't that big to begin with, wearing a size 6. I will probably drop another 5-10 pounds in the next week with water manipulation and my peak week diet. To give you an idea though, I am 5'10" and currently at 142 pounds.

My progress album on Facebook is public. Take a look: http://www.facebook.com/#!/media/set/?set=a.10150485017266384.354745.512191383&type=3
