CALLING ALL CRUISE STAFF!!!!

Hello all!!

Just posting as I have recently got the job I have been going after since last September!! I had to lower my BMI to get it and after loosing 44lbs, I succesfully passed my medical!!

Now the job is on a cruise ship... and I just wanted to hear from anyone on here that had or is working on a cruise ship.

How easy is it to keep up with your diet given the work schedule and hours? Is the food nutritious?

I think I'm going to find it hard to log my foods on MFP while i'm away, but I will need to eat more as my activity levels will be through the roof!!!

Any success stories out there??

Can't wait to hear :0)

I worked as the executive chef on a private 285ft yacht with 24 crew for a max of 12 passengers for 2 years back in the early 90's that cruised from Vancover in Canada through the suez canel to Boston from Sept to May and it was unforgettable. Saying that working on a large cuise ship as a chef I would rather rip my eye out with a fork. On the other hand i have a friend that worked the Med as a cruise director for 12 years and had the best time in her life. Depending on your job your probably going to be burning alot more calories than you ever dreamed of.

Sounds amazing!! I really do feel for those guys in the 'galley' on the big ships... not my idea of fun!! I'm going to be run ragged by kids and teens as I'm working as a youth activities worker!!! I hope i will burn off all the comfort eating I am sure to do, when i'm missing home for the first couple of months!!!! Mainly want to burn off the alcohol, from what i hear about crew bars!!!
