Have a question about cheat days?

So I only let my self have a cheat day about once every two weeks or so! When I do cheat I dont go over my caloires I mostly just eat something I dont allow myself regularly any more. Like last night was pizza. Every time this happens the next days weigh in I have any where from 2 to 4 pounds more than the day before and it seems like it takes 2 to 4 days to get it back down.

IS THIS NORMAL?

I dont understand how one day can effect me so much. Any input would be helpful. Thanks for reading!

Gosh I felt the same way when I had cheat days. I ended up cutting them out of my weeks entirely - I wouldn't even go over my calories. I now let myself have a tiny snack of something unhealthy every couple days, and it's been working for me.

Are you intolerant to the food you eat as a cheat? Do you feel bloated after eating it?

I gain lbs when I eat something I am intolerant to and it takes 3 days for my body to go back to normal

(I am intolerant to wheat, msg, cow dairy & cruciferous vegetables)

Well, you didn't eat 14,000 calories in pizza, I hope, so that's not where the four pounds came from. My guess would be sodium and bloating. This is why I don't weigh every day, and the day before my weigh-in I eat low-sodium and drink as much water as I can stand. Get that water weight out before you get on the scale.

With something like pizza, the gain is probably water retention from sodium (and yes, very normal). Do you track sodium in your diary? Processed food tends to have a lot of sodium, as does cheese.

It could be the sodium. Do you normally track your sodium? The crust alone is sometimes loaded, as are a lot of the topping and cheese. Look at that and see what those numbers are. You should be around 2,500 mg sodium per day. Even with lots of water, I find that following a high sodium day, my scale always goes up.

Yes, pretty much. Record your food every meal and also any physical reactions. You may spot a correlation between the physical response to what you eat.
Food intolerances can take 48 hours to manifest themselves but most people I know react within a few hours.
My intolerances are quite bad so range from 15 minutes (MSG & Wheat) to 2 hours after eating (Cow dairy and cruciferous vegetables).
I wouldn't recommend this for people to try unless they are having serious problems after eating - I started by eating rice, carrots, peas, leeks, mushrooms, eggs, cornflakes and soya milk (for two weeks ~ boring) before adding one food item every three days. It took me over 6 months to find out what foods I can't eat!! Now I only have problems if I accidentally eat something I shouldn't, but as I have to make most of my own food it doesn't happen that often (try buying pre-prepared food that doesn't contain wheat).

Hope this helps and you can work out what is causing it

processed food is loaded with sodium .. drink extra water you will be fine
if your going to have a "cheat " meal then do it early to mid week .. i wouldn't do it a couple or so days b4 weigh in

when i did " cheat days" it was on my weigh in day .. it just meant once i got weighed in (was at w.w.) i would not track that day at all .. then i had all week to be good and it worked fine
