Vegan Protein

Here are some protein you all might enjoy in knowing of that's been working for me and how to lose weight while doing it. This is my personal journey.

Someone had written a post about peanut butter and how fattening it was for people on calorie restricted lifestyles and diets.

For me personally, I like to and have the ability to consume peanut butter (or products with it) because personally my calorie diet is 2,400 for the day to maintain my weight and I've been eating a lot of peanut butter and have been losing weight.

I stay under my fat goal. That is important to losing weight. I rarely go over my calorie goal and if I do it's for 100 or 200 calories over.

Now some things I eat which help fill out my protein:

A good source I enjoy is Clif Builder's Bars - 20 grams of protein, I can have 2 or 3 throughout the day and I have 60 out of the 90 protein that I need in my diet and the fat is only 24 out of 90 (90 being what I need to reach) so I have room for my vegan ice cream if I'd like, candy, and fattening foods like avocado rolls, etc.

That's my personal journey. But nothing beats fruits and veggies.

A nice big salad with a lot of hummus on it is GREAT and tastes so good. If anyone is doing a vegan lifestyle I suggest that as a nice snack or meal. I like to use Dole Very Veggie salad (the whole bag) with it. A full bag has some protein. I'm sure spinach has even more obviously.

Clif Carrot Cake Bar - this is a good bar, 240 calories 40 from fat and has 6 percent daily value for protein.

Share some of your ideas, snacks, fruits, veggies if you're vegan.

Beans, peas, lentils, quinoa, buckwheat, potatoes, tofu. I like lots of curry, chili, lentil soup, dips made with tofu, marinated tofu.

I made a skillet of vegetables (onions, mushrooms, asparagus) and threw in some cashews for crunch. I also add pecans and sunflower seeds to my spinach salad. I do have a tough time meeting my protein requirement so on exercise days, I supplement with Vega One protein powder.

Okay, I looked back at my food diary and those nuts I added to my meals added nothing to my protein intake. I got more from whole grains and soy milk.
