Eating When I'm Not Hungry!

Since I've dropped 26lbs so far I'm finding out alot about my habits. My biggest down fall is eating when I am not even remotely hungry!!!! I've noticed lately that it's an automatic response and I'm eating before I realize it!!
Any advice from compulsive eaters? I'd really like to get a handle on this before it begins to sabotage me!! It's bad especially at night.
Thanks in advance for the advice!!

I so understand that is me to the mindless eating..my suggestion would be to eat fruit, salsa, baked chips, or popcorn. And set the timer at night on the t.v. I 've noticed that if it is on late at night when all the commericals on when I get up to go to the bathroom,I will keep going if the t.v. is on0

That is so true!! I am a night owl and if I am up late and roaming around I eat. I've really been trying to turn the tube off, open and book and fall asleep like a normal person.0 -
What Ive done to curb my compulsive eating, is to basically keep anything I like out of the house. I have stuff for the hubby, and very few things I like but nothing unhealthy. And Ive found that it works best this way for me, because within a month I've developed a disliking for french fries, high sugar drinks, and anything super high in sugar in general. Not saying I completely despise my treats, but I dont go for them immediately and with such a compulsive urge anymore. Also, counting to 100 has helped...if I can managed to get to 100 and still want the item...well then I should get it (I normally get to 40ish before I decide I dont want it). As for keeping myself busy...well I play games, so that keeps me from being able to actually put food into my mouth (button smashing or stuffing face...decisions decisions....)0

Alternatively eat proper food that will fill you up and not stuff that will spike your insulin and cause the perpetual snacking that comes from it.
That is, reduce the carbs, especially the processed ones.
Baked chips and popcorn, I would suggest, are the last thing someone needs.
And fruit for that matter, to a lesser extent.0 -
I learned to crochet and besides learning a new skill a side benefit is that my hands are busy at night when I want to watch TV and I can't eat!0
