Does anyone know how they calculate the calories on the nutrition label for nuts or seeds in the shell? - particularly in Canada
I bought pumpkin seeds in the shell and the nutrition label says 1 1/3c (50g) is 260 calories. The entire bag is 210 g which would by measure work out to be just over 5 cups - but the bag barely measure 2 cups!!!
So now I have NO idea how many calories this bag of seeds - or a portion of it is!!!
BTW, they are spicy and in the shell, so if your snack habit is about finding something finicky to do with your hands and mouth, this really slows you down so you don't eat so much. So don't suggest I shell and weigh them before I eat them because that defeats the purpose.
