They say you cant spot train fat right? but they also say muscle burns fat, so if you worked a certain area and built the muscle up, would that not burn the fat in that area? I am just a tad confused. Thanks for any replys Pink xxx

Muscle requires more energy at rest than fat does, so having more muscle raises your basal metabolic rate. It doesn't burn fat directly, just raises your metabolism. The effect isn't really all that high. The highest figure I've seen reported is about an extra 16 calories per day for each additional pound of muscle. It's not so much having more muscle that is going to really affect your fat loss, but more the activities that go along with building muscle, basically more exercise and good nutrition.0
