Pedometers

So, I got myself a pedometer...now, my question is, how do I log how many steps/miles I've walked during the day, not including exercising?

Replies

  • I personally only record aerobic steps. These are the steps that really get the heart pumping. I know the other steps that I have taken, and I log them under exercise notes. I generally walk around 12,000 steps minimum each day at my job.....but I don't account for them on MFP. I figure the real test isn't the number of steps I log, but rather the amount of weight that I lose.

I only log the aerobic steps into my diary.

I try to do 10,000 aerobic steps a day (about an 80-minute walk for me), but if I don't have time for that I make sure my TOTAL steps for the day gets to at least 10,000.

My pedometer is an Omron HJ-113, and actually breaks down the aerobic steps/minutes in addition to the total steps. The nice thing about this one is that it automatically resets at midnight, so I don't have to remember to do so. (It also has a 7-day memory.)
