Snack Attacks!!!

I have a desk job which can be pretty boring at times. I've noticed that even when I'm not hungry, I snack a lot. Not on donuts and cookies, but foods like crackers and toast. Even though it's not total junk food, it does add calories. How do you resist your urge to snack when bored, at work, etc. Thanks guys!

I don't really resist snacking, I just eat different snacks. I pack my lunch everyday and I'll throw in a little applesauce, pudding cup, or cottage cheese to have if I'm feeling the need to snack. I also keep peanuts (with the shell) in my desk. I will eat less of those because I have to take them time to shell them first. I will also sometimes bring veggies, like baby carrots. I have TMJ so my jaw hurts if I eat too much of a crunchy food, which the stop me from eating after a small handful of carrots. lol0

Not snacking at work is easy-- just don't keep any snacks there. If you have decent self control, something like a bag of almonds is good to have on hand for the occasional hunger attack.
Similar rules can be used at home. Have ingredients on hand that are easy to prepare, like eggs, but that you can't just reach for and snack on. Also, do things! I'm never, ever bored at home because I'm always busy with something.0 -
I don't resist it, either.......as that's futile!
Right now, I am snacking on Red Pepper Hummus and Special K chips (cheddar flavor). I figure I'll eat about 100 to 150 calories, and stop.
I always have yogurt & fruit in the fridge, some chocolate in my desk drawer (JUST for emergencies!), and water nearby. At home, I have popcorn and other snackables for those moments when I MUST have something!0 -
I snack - actually I eat 5 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones - that way I'm never really hungry. Just make sure you have healthy things available to snack on so you won't be tempted to eat something you shouldn't.0

My office has a fully stocked kitchen which can be very difficult to resist. Here's how I've managed to deal with the temptations:
1) I keep at least 2 empty water bottles in my desk so I don't have to go into the kitchen often to get water. I fill them in the morning and then maybe once again in the afternoon. By having the water next to my hands, I sip at it all day rather than snack.
2) If I do feel a little hungry, then I go straight for the fruit. We always have some fresh fruit in the refridgerator so that's always my best option. A cup of grapes or strawberries eaten very slowly can be very helpful.
3) I keep 100 calorie packs of nuts, popcorn and cheerios in case I want something crunchy or salty.0 -

I don't keep snacks at work, but I will find some if I'm having an attack lol. I'm like a hound! But fortunately I never get bored at home. Soon as I get there I workout for 40 min, cook dinner, give my 3 year old his bath, and by that time, it's bedtime.0 -
Headphones! I listen to music and rock out at my desk. Keeps my mind off food.0

Great advice! Thanks!0 -
I try to plan out my snacks in advance so I know how much is okay to have, and I pack lots of fruits and veggies so I can have lots of volume for not a lot of calories. Today for my afternoon snack I packed an apple with PB2, mandarin oranges, and celery and carrot sticks. I also sip on low calorie beverages like hot or iced tea and decaf coffee.0
