When you click on the "MY HOME" tab up top there the page that opens up it tells you how many cals remaining for the day . Goal, eaten exercise and net.

Net cals are your calories eaten - your work out calories.
If you set a goal based on MFP number you should eat back your exercise cals to meet that Net goal.

It doesn't HAVE to be at 1200 but most people choose lose 2 lbs a week because we are impatient, and 1200 cals is the lowest you should go.

You should be hitting 1200 NET because otherwise your body will be in starvation mode. I noticed that after I bumped up my calories and started eating back my exercise calories, a lot of people including myself had better weight loss results. You have to feed your body to see results. There are lots of posts in the forum about it, check this one out! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/539912-why-eating-exercise-calories-is-so-important

For most people it probably should be well over 1200 - unless you are very short and have a lot to lose.
    Have a look at www.shouldieatmyexercisecalories.com
it will answer all your questions!
