Starting to freak out a bit...

I weighed in today, and I have lost 48.8 pounds so far. I am so pleased with how well I am doing, but I started to freak out. My goal was to get this weight off by my 40th birthday, and I started MFP on Feb 9, and my birthday is Aug. 12. It is going so well!!! However, I started to think how my goal was really within my reach. And how I could possibly be healthy again, and not fat. Then I started to think about how hard maintaining my goal weight will be and how I don't want to fail!!! I am not a person that does this type of over-thinking on a normal basis...so it is a bit of a strange feeling for me. I just want to reach my goal, and stay there.
Would love to hear some success stories/strategies for those of you who have maintained your loss for a significant amount of time. Help a girl out!

WOW...you have done great so far!!! Baby steps!! Make small 4-5 week goals. DON'T look at the big pic (it is very stressful). Focus on one month at a time...that way you can focus on your mini goals. Celebrate your mini goal successes with non food rewards.
I was just about 300 lbs after I had my youngest 2 years ago thanks to preeclampsia. Lost 50 right away and last summer got down to 230...once Fall came around I decided to maintain (who can loss weight halloween through New Years??). Maintaining is easier than it sounds...you get to eat a little bit more since you are no longer trying to lose and as long as you continue to make healthy choices all should be well. I jumped back on the scale in Jan and only gained 2 lbs...so success!! Being on MFP is amazing cause you can do whatever you want with your diet...WHEN we get to where we want to be all we have to do is set it to maintainaince and keep doing what we have been all along!!
Good luck to you!!!
PS...I am going to friend you...we have very similar goals, ages and bdays!!0 -
After I reach one goal, I set another. I reached my goal weight, now I am looking to lose some body fat.
Maintaining is hard, but we can always strive to be better.0 -
I'm turning 40 in July so I know exactly how you feel. I've had a harder time. I started on my "mission" after my birthday last year and have hit some plateaus along the way. I try not to focus too much on the birthday or the amount I have left or even what I'll do to maintain. I've been up and down so many times, I've learned that none of that works. I focus on what I can do today and this week to be healthy and happy. However, when I get super tempted to cheat, I do have a picture of the dress I want to wear on my birthday. That always helps me say no to cake, candy and other really bad things.
Feel free to friend me. We're on the same mission and have roughly the same amount of time.0 -
Thank you, ladies! It just got a bit overwhelming. I am so ready for this change...I never want to go back to that size again!0
