Little quiet here yesterday.

Today - plan is to ride the bike for a few errands before it gets too hot, do some home practice yoga, and finish the movie I'm watching on the treadmill. Our kitty isn't doing well, so we are taking him in a day early and I'll miss the yoga class tonight.

Keep cool boogaloo!

Mary

Oh, no, no,no. . .does panicking count as cardio?
My desktop PC has gone kaput. It won't turn on. I just was on with tech support, and they wanted me to take the entire thing apart to check my motherboard my ram cards are buried under all my hardware (disc burners, etc. . .) Um. . .no. I'm afraid if I got it all apart, I couldn't put it back together again.
I have yet to back up my current project (stupid, stupid, stupid) so I may have lost ten pages of writing, as well as a meticulously formatted 10 page bibliography.) Not to mention my entire music collection, and all my other writing and well, everything that's on a given computer.
Now I need to find a reputable IT guy not connected with any "geek squad"- charge- me-extra-money-and-try-to-sell-me-a-new-computer-scam-artist.

    Booo. Hooo.

On an up note, today is Bikram, followed by more panicking.

    Take care.

    Backup your stuff boogaloo.:flowerforyou:

It's not lost if it's still on the hard drive, V. You should be able to remove the hard drive and load it up on another computer. Not that I've ever done this, mind you, but husband has many a time. I would find some local computer repair place and ask them how much it would be to put old data on different computer. You can get the "computer" part for under $200 now-a-days and just ask them to put the old hard drive in the new computer.

I'm really stupid re: this. . .but isn't the memory on the motherboard? Or is it all on the little ram cards?

I really don't care about anything except for the hard drive stuff. I have a laptop and can just switch to that, but it's the stuff I'm worried about.

V, I wish you lived closer! My DH could help you. It's his job. I don't know much because I rely on him to fix everything, but you should still have your stuff. Like Mary said, you just need to find someone who can load it on your laptop for you. Don't panic. I don't think you've lost everything. Your hard drive didn't crash right? It was something else, like the motherboard or something? You should be okay.
Alex went to tumbling class and did great! Makes me proud when he's active and happy!
Today may be a day off besides cleaning, which I need to get back to. We have to take pictures of the house to send with the dossier paper work to Russia. So I am trying to clean while moving things around to take care the pictures. lol.
We talked to the lady from the agency last night. Very thick Russian accent, but so sweet and helpful. If everything went perfect, and the money comes in, then we could have our daughter as early as October! That's if it's all perfect. I am hoping to at least get her at by Christmas. The Dept of Education in Russia just shut down for summer break. Russians love to take long vacations so we don't know when they will open again. We need them to get the process going, so I hope it's not all summer! God will work it all out in His time. I have to be patient. Ever get excited you are screaming inside? For a good reason. Not because the computer broke.
I'm chatty. I'm excited! We are going to try to get the dossier papers (48 documents?) notarized today so we can send them to Austin to have them Apostilled. The state has to notarize them saying they were notarized correctly by a proper notary...or something. That will take a couple of weeks to get back and then we need a chunk of money to send with the dossier Russia!
Okay, I'm done. I'm sure you all really wanted to know all that. I'm just excited!
Have a good Tuesday! V, don't fret! It's going to be okay!

    Congrats MM!

V - motherboard is not where the memory is - the motherboard has RAM, hard drive has your data. Think of the hard drive as a big thumb drive.

OK, much calmer now. . .I'm reassured by a sister of a friend who's an IT person that if something had burned out inside the computer, there would be a "smell". . .and there's not. Also, she's convinced (she hasn't seen the machine that it's a power supply issue and she can fix it for relatively cheap. Now I just have to coordinate my schedule with hers so she can come and work her magic.

I often have little boogaloo fantasies that we live closer. Then your DH could fix my machine, we could all go to Mary's yoga class, I could babysit for you so you could go for a run, etc. (just little ones, not stalker-y ones. . . )

MM, that is really, really exciting news. I hope you're able to work everything out in a good time for everyone.

thanks for talking me down, ladies. . .:flowerforyou:
