Anybody else use the ePulse2 HRM??

OK... So I just received my HRM today in the mail... I purchased a ePulse2... it had really good reviews and it goes around my forearm instead of my chest which I really like! However... after inputting all my information I decided to sit on my butt and while eating some dinner tested it out... After 10 mins it told me I had burned 40 cals!! Seriously? I don't understand that... That would mean in a 24 hr period i was burning over 5000 cals by just sitting on my *kitten*!! This is not possible! When I had put in all my info it told me my BMR was a little over 1700... which is pretty accurate... so I'm completely confused now
Then I did my 20 min zumba ab workout.... according to MFP I burn over 160 cals doing this... but my HRM said I only burned off 110... but if i'm burning 40 in 10 mins that means I only burned off an extra 30 cals doing the workout... Understand my confusion?? What do I do? does anybody else have this HRM that can give me some tips? or at least help me understand??

Heart rate monitors aren't meant for measuring inactivity. Many need a heartbeat over 90 to start measuring0

to start measuring correctly? or at all? because obviously mine was measuring calories burned if it said i burned 40 in 10 mins... i guess my biggest issue is that i want to know if when i'm exercising my calories burned are correct! that was the whole point of me spending $100 on a HRM0

Ah good luck with that
I'd just ignore what it said about your resting rate.0 -
hmmm ok... just wish i knew the reasoning behind it all0

I don't know much about an epulse2, but the other poster is right.. HRM's are not meant for wearing during rest.. if you want one to wear during rest, then you need a body bugg/body media fit/fit bit.
Also, how does it measure your heart rate if it is around your arm? From my understanding, HRM's(like Polar, that have a chest strap) take your heart rate, and translate that into a percentage of max heart rate, and then from there spit out a calories burned number.
If you are really that worried, then send it back and get one with a chest strap... I mean, you are a female, so if you can wear a bra all day then you can wear a chest strap.. they really are no different.0
