Sore abs - any relief?

I did my resistance training today and the leg exercises involve sucking in my gut - I mean, flexing my abs - while performing the stretches. My problem is my belly is all crampy. Any pain relief tips that don't involve waiting for Tylenol/asprin/ Aleve to kick in? Oh, and will this pain go away if I do the stretching long enough? By that I mean doing them for the next few weeks or so.

Try some heating pads. Or a warm shower/bath.

I love the pain too because I know that I am actually getting a good workout!! My personal trainer before told me to eat a banana and that should help.

Go have a nice long soak with some Epsom salts.

Try a hot water bottle, but appreciate that pain, you did good!

    My thoughts:
    1. drink a lot of water
    2. do a few jumping jacks or light jog/fast walk - something to warm up the muscles in your body for ~5minutes. Then do a long stretch cool-down, such as:
    - lying down and reach your arms/legs in the opposite directions
    - lying down, turn your right leg over your left and reach your arms to the right, and then the reverse, etc.

There's good sore and then there's bad sore. Take it easy until you build up the endurance or tolerance.

Same thing happens to me. I just bear with it but sometimes when it was really bad (like when I first started with my trainer) I took a couple of regular strength Tylenol. Worked great.

I have a couple of sore knees right now if you would like to trade..lol

Me too!!! Makes me know what I am doing is working.

To OP, stick with it and you'll condition those muscles and they wont be sore any more.

This seems to help me drink a fair amount of water and stretch them every 4-5 hours gently.

lol - I thought I was the only one that loved the feeling of sore abs!! I agree with the drinking lots water and stretching...whenever I am in a rush working out and skip the stretch at the end - I always pay for it
