Ravenous When Weight Lifting

Hey,
Does lifting make you ravenous? I've been dieting for a few months now with good success. After some reading I've decided I had better start lifting again to ensure I stop consuming lean body mass. I had been hesitant because I recall that when I used to lift, I would be very hungry while healing. A couple of days ago I reintroduced myself to the bench press, and predictably I've found the diet suddenly harder to adhere to.
So... does this happen to you? If so, how do you cope?

Yeah, it kinda' does. How's your diet look now? How much protein are you consuming in-terms of grams of protein per 1lb of bodyweight? What type of carbs are you eating?0 -
Yes absolutely. Make sure you have plenty of calories left for after your workout. I know a lot of people who used to run then started lifting weights who have noticed this as well. Eating higher protein usually helps with satiation.0

You really have to wonder if this isn't all in your head. You expected to be ravenous . . . and now you're ravenous. I've never found that lifting made me ravenous as long as I ate enough solid protein and accounted for the calories burned in my exercise regimen. Of course, if you're don't eat back the exercise calories, you'll be more hungry than you were before simply because you're at a higher caloric deficit.0

Yes, I'm starved after a workout. I've been taking a smoothie in a thermos and a couple of oranges with me to the gym. I eat them immediately after a workout.0

Yes, it could well be in my head. But I do remember noticing before, though I wasn't counting calories back then.
I'm just starting to lift again, and starting slowly, but my goal is 1g protein per lb of lean body mass. Or, about 30%.0
