Recipes for homemade nut butters?

Hi, I am going to attempt to make my own almond butter and maybe even walnut almond butter. And possibly some coconut butter if I can find a fresh coconut. I found a how to make coconut butter from unsweeten coconut flakes but I dont know if I will be able to find any of those and want to go as little processed possible. Does anyone do this at home and have any tips for me or recipes to make it extra tasty?

Edited later: oh and for those of you that crack up about nut butter here is my laughter yea it is funny lol

Yeah, what he said. I know we have a local grocery chain (Town & Country Markets, for those of you in the Pac NW) that has the machines, much like grinding your own coffee.

Just throw them into a food processor and pulse, scraping down the sides when needed. I've never made nut butter myself, but it's what I've seen in every nut butter recipe. You can also roast them in the oven beforehand if you'd like.

Though if you're looking for an unprocessed, delicious almond butter, I really can't recommend Trader Joe's brand enough! If you look at the ingredients, it's just almonds :)

OMG... Why didn't I ever think of that! I HATE peanuts and have a super hard time finding cashew butter (unless I want to drive 45 mins out of my way to go to a super over priced health store)... but this.... OMG... my mind had been blown... Thank you!

I have a very tight budget 400 or less a month to feed a family of 5. And 5 cats. So I usually buy the cheapest brand of peanut butter. But It is so high in added oils etc and peanuts dont really agree with me. And Almonds are very good for you. So I found raw almonds and walnuts in bulk at my new grocery store. Thought I would give it a shot and see if I can make my own cheaper. That is partly why I cant go to whole foods and the other specialty stores and make it there cuz they add in the cost of using the machine into the price of the nuts. And I get heart palpitations just looking at the prices in trader joes, fresh and easy and whole foods. Not that I dont love the products I just cant afford it

Thanks, that is where I learned how to make it. But she mentions you can add things like cinnamon etc. But she doesnt give recipes for that so thought there might be some people here who have their favorites.
