I'm using an Oregon Scientific SE190 HRM...so far it's ok.
It's a chest strap one which took me a little to work out the best positioning for a solid reading and the watch band is bulky. I've fixed that by changing this to a sports webbing band.
Performance wise though it is good.
And the price was ok. $39
Nothing really to compare it with though LOL

I use a BodyMedia FIT. Unlike a heart rate monitor, I wear it all day and it calculates my calorie burn and metabolism while I'm doing everything from sleeping to cleaning to cooking to exercising to just sitting on the couch. It's been very helpful in determining my daily caloric needs.

I've been writing a blog about if you want to see more! :-)

I use Polar [ www.polarusa.com/us-en ] it's good. I just order the fitbit from myfitnesspal tools. Can't wait to see how the two compare.
