I was wondering what everyone's take on being able to cook well...Do you think it helps with weight loss or it's sort of a disadvantage when trying to lose weight?? On 1 hand I think it is good but on the other I think it sometimes makes it harder to control myself. So I was wondering what other people thought.

Knowledge is power. Being able to understand how ingredients work together to make good food helps me have interesting and satisfying meals within the new constraints of counting calories and balancing macronutrients. I look at some people's diaries and wonder how they can face the same plain boneless skinless chicken breast day after day. (Of course, perhaps I'm not giving them enough credit and they are dressing it up great with calorie-free and unlogged herbs and spices.)0
