Does anyone exercise with a small dog? I have a chihuahua but am not quite sure if he is the type of dog to walk or run with... LOL

I wouldn't think so. Brisk walks maybe. I'm not sure what their endurance is!
My lab isn't all that great either. He challenges me to hurry up but sometimes jerks me to a stop to smell something or go to the bathroom. I can only run with him when its safe to have him off a leash where he can keep his own pace. If you have a place like that, that may work for the chihuahua too, as long as you know he or she isn't the type to run off.0 -
You might want to try walking with it. Depending on its size and stamina though you should probably count on carrying it after a while.
I walk my chiweenies sometimes but with those stubby legs they aren't always great for going too fast. One of them does like to help me do 30 Day Shred and will stick his nose in my face while I'm doing plank moves.0 -
I have a Yorkshire terrier, I would exercise with her, but I don't trust her to spot for me when lifting weights, she has let me down to many times.0

I have a chihuahua / mini dachshund mix. He's about six pounds.
He has been doing couch to 5k with me and he loves it. Every time I get my running shoes from the closet, he goes completely nuts! We are only on week two, and my plan was to take him until the runs got too intense for him, but now I have very little doubt that he could do an entire 5k with me as long as it wasn't hot out.
I think as long as you're very vigilant about making sure your dog isn't thirsty, overheating, exhausted, or hurting you can try including them in your workouts. Just be prepared to abort mission if your pup can't hang.0 -

Haha! My aforementioned mini chiweenie feels the need to stand on me whenever my workout goes to the floor!0
