Exercise for injured

I've somehow hurt the back of my knee/lower hamstring/top of calf muscle area and I'm giving it a few days or rest and ice; any suggestions on cardio I can do without using legs? Did some upper body weights but it's just not the same. Help anyone?

How about water exercise. The pool at my gym seems to always have some folks walking or jogging - some are older or out of shape (me and me). But there have also been a couple of athletes that look like they are recovering from injuries.

    Do leg lifts help?
Concentrate on core or trunk muscles? Sit-ups? Twists?
I don't know, but good luck!

I don't belong to a gym, just work out at home. I'm thinking about dancing with arms only . . . Hope it works.

I'll try some and see what happens to my heart rate, maybe that will do the trick! Thanks.

I had the same thing two weeks ago! I normally run so I was a bit devastated. Sounds like a medial ligament tear, obviously I'm not a Dr but it seems to be the same symptoms as mine!

I had a couple of suggestions from one of the trainers at the gym and it has been having results this week.

I know you said you don't have a gym membership, but might you have access to a cross trainer? I get a similar feeling as if I've run and burn a lot of calories. I also use a stationery bike (my road bike has had to hide in the shed as the knee can't handle it!). Also, deep water running is amazing and there's no pain. Swimming is great too (although it's getting colder in the southern hemisphere!). I've also been doing weights, plank holds and ab work as that doesn't affect the knee much at all.

not sure if that helps, but it's been really good for me and then knee/leg is slowly healing!

Oh, I hope it's not a tear. It happened while I was doing step aerobics . . . I was hoping it was just over use. What is a cross trainer? I have a treadmill and elliptical at home, thought I might try a short walk on Monday and see how it feels.
