Ok...I am 213 pounds on a 5 foot 3 inch frame... My food has been spot on, My exercise this week was four days of cardio with sore muscles to prove it. Why have a not dropped any weight this week? It's not like I am at a plateau, I just started a month ago....I have quite a bit to lose and having just gotten started it should be falling off me in the beginning...am I doing something wrong?

If your muscles are sore you will be retaining water which creates "weight". Have you had a day off? Drink lots of water, and take a day off. That could make all the difference. :-)0

Bump, I would like to know too. I am having the same problem...0

just from a quick look at your diary I can see you need to drink more water. keep an eye on your sodium there are a number of days your way over on sodium and then not drinking enough water to flush it out so your body will hang onto that water weight. Most days I saw where pretty good calorie wise but you did have some where 500+ where left for the day aim to get close or meet your goal each day even if you go over your goal by alittle its better IMO than not eating enough.
also weight lift if you don`t already0 -
I don't know - I've gone through the same thing. I know that when I started drinking lots and lots of water that helped. I also know that patience is the key here - you're body is adjusting to this new lifestyle and doesn't exactly know what to do. However what I tell myself on those weeks is this - it's really a pretty simple formula - more calories out than in eventually leads to a loss - it has to! Hang in there, I feel your pain and it's very frustrating but eventually you will see the results of your hard work. In the meantime - how do you feel? Any difference there?0

Oh...aaaaand you're not eating nearly enough. Under 1200 some days I saw. Right now is the time to make a choice. Do I want to crash diet and lose muscle/ end up gaining back because it isn't sustainable? Or do it a little slower, but have it be painless and forever? Google Fat2Fit Radio. They have a website with a GREAT BMR tool. It will add in your exercise and give you a really sustainable amount of calories that will help you lose and keep muscle. They have great free podcasts too. If you stay at 1200 your metabolism will slow, and get used to eating that little. Then you will gain it back and even more. Check it out! :-)0

I to starting off slow but I have told by many friend and family that don't just look at the numbers (scale and measure tape ) but watch you clothes. Are they fitting better? Mineare fitting better even though the numbers are not changing.0

Weight loss is not necessarily linear, and more importantly one week is not long enough of a time frame to make any good assessments , IMO. It would also be very easy for water weight to mask fat loss.am I doing something wrong?
I would say that having 1 week where you don't lose weight, should not be cause for concern. Several weeks in a row and I'd start looking at things closely.0 -
it kills me to eat the exercise calories...i don't know why0

I agree with this also take a day off sore muscles = water weight take a day off to recover and drink water0 -

Do you understand that MFP sets up your intake recommendations with the assumption that you should eat them back, and that by not eating them back you are essentially creating a much larger deficit than intended based on your goals?
In some cases, but certainly not all cases, this is a bad thing.0 -
You will have weeks where you don't lose. It's part of the process, I am afraid. You have to back up and look at the big picture. It's a marathon, not a sprint.0

I know what you mean - it goes against everything we've ever been taught, but I've seen way too many posts on here advocating it to think it isn't true! Eat those exercise calories and drink your water - you can do it !0
-
have you taken measurements? you may be losing inches. sometimes when i plateau i will lose lots of inches and not lose a pound doesn't make a bit of sense but that may be what is happening. See if your clothes are fitting better. Take measurements one day, keep working hard and in 30 days take measurements and weigh yourself and see what happens...Don't get discouraged but do throw out the scale it is evil!!0
-
Try adding some strength training as well as cardio exercises...also, if you don't see a change in the scales, check your measurements - remember, if you lose fat and gain muscle (which you will do if you include some strength training) you will either maintain or gain weight so your measurements will be a better indication of how well you're doing.
Best of luck and keep going0 -

Drink lots and lots of water.... you're supposed to be drinking AT LEAST 8 glasses of water a day. It definitely won't hurt if you drink more than that.0 -
