Help me Decide!...

Mon, Wed & Fri I always go to the gym at lunch in work. I go for 40mins and it's pure cardio...
But I just realised that my gym at home do spinning classes on a Wed after work but now I dont know what to do
I know myself that once 6pm comes around I will be thinking of excuses BUT I know myself the calorie burn from the spin class would be far greater than my usual 250 cals I average out of my lunchtime gym sessions..
I am a master of excuses (hence my weight :noway:  ) so I want to make the best decision!!
Plus I havent been to a spinning class in over 3 years so I know it's gonna be tough...
What do you all think I should do !??!

Plus something else that came to mind after posted this..
A while ago I was told that spinning actually bulks up people's thighs... i have no idea how true this is but I do have quite big thighs as in muscle AND fat wise. I use to play ice hockey & basketball when I was younger so always had bulky thighs..
Is this true, what are peoples experience on this => does it bulk thighs up????0 -
I personally LOVE spin class, so I would suggest that you go. As for bulking up the thighs, I don't know about that. It does build muscle there, but my experience so far is that my thighs are just more toned and in fact have gotten just a little bit smaller. But I haven't been doing it for very long, maybe a month and a half or so. And I've never had big thighs, so maybe it depends on how you're built?
Maybe you can get someone to meet you there every week so you're less likely to miss it. And, there's nothing wrong with doing two workouts in one day, so maybe for the first couple of weeks you can go at lunch AND go to spin until you remember how awesome spin class is and you just can't wait to go back the next week.0 -
DEEDUN! You're getting married?! Congrats! Are you newly engaged or did I just never know this?!
My recommendation is to do your Turbo Jam. What are you thinking?!
I really have no good words for you, I just wanted to say, "HELLO!" It's been awhile since I've seen you around! :flowerforyou:0 -
hehehe I am a master of excuses too. If I have to go home before going to the gym, forget it. The couch will just look too comfy! :blushing:
I was thinking about a spinning class as well, but I have the same concerns about buling up my thighs. I think I will try the spinning once I am closer to goal weight and not while I am still a fatty. I dont want my thighs to get even fatter! :noway:0 -

Hi!! We've been engaged for nearly two years now!! So we finally came to a decison only recently on a date for the wedding.. Doesnt leave me much time to get all that weight down!!
I still turbo on Tues & Thurs & Sat!! How you keeping, btw the pic is soo cute!
Well everyone, decided to go get my eyebrows threaded at lunch instead of gym so i will be spinning tonight - getting nervous now
If anyone has info on the bulking up of thighs I would love to know...0 -
If you build muscle easily, spinning will most likely bulk up your legs. You really work those muscles. But, one class a week probably won't do enough to bulk you up too much, especially if you're doing something else, like running, which will work the muscles in different ways. (Running is actually a cardio that helps to get leaner legs.) As you lose fat and gain muscle, your legs will be more sculpted, but spinning can leave more bulk, especially in the quads and hamstrings. I have avoided spinning classes for just that reason.
As for the motivation route, give a chance one week and see how difficult it is and if you really like it. You never know until you try. Good Luck!0 -
Well, I went and it wasnt the worst... My *kitten* is killing me though
The one I went to a couple of years ago was much better. He just spouted out commands and didnt bother to look or check on people.. I only worked up just under 300cals which I was surprised at...
I thought it would be alot more tougher...0 -

I've done 3 spinning classes & kind of felt the same way. 45 minutes & 300ish cals isn' tmuch for me. I blame ME, though! I'm not all that into it. :ohwell:0 -
You know yourself and your habits and if you feel that you won't go, then I would work out during my lunch. Or you can always work out on your lunch and just in case, do spinning...I do that too.0

I think this is the best option => least this will get me an extra 550cals
I will try it on Monday and see how I get on... that is if I am able to sit down by then   my *kitten* is getting worse. I know way too much info but I am past caring now!! IT HURTS SO MUCH!0 -
