I have used the powders over the years and have started again as I have been doing long training runs (12kms+), I find it difficult to eat after a run even though I am hungry and I have also read that interms of re carbohydrating your body it is more effective through liquid than food.

So the question is how do you all feel about the use of Gatorade or other similar products in the same price range and is there value in them or is it all hype?

I do know that there are high end post work out powders but I am not sure that I can justify the cost of them if they are giving the same benefits as the mass produced powders.

All views would be appreciated.

I heard chocolate milk is great post workout for people who have strenuous workouts.

I think Gatorade even has...G3 which adds protein to whatever it is that they put in it.

I would go with the chocolate milk I do not like the Gatorade as its too sugary and lately there has been a lot of talk that we do not need the spike after a workout as we once thought and unless your burning in over 1000 calories per workout and sweating I would not worry about post workout foods... Its what you eat in 24 hours that helps you recover and sleep not one meal after a workout.
