I know it stands for heart rate monitor, but does it record calories burned and how much are they ? Also what is a decent one without paying a fortune.

A decent brand to buy is Polar... Prices range 60-300 depending on what model you buy and where you buy them.

Polar FT4 or FT7 will prob. be your best bet.. Buy on Amazon and you'll pay about 60 for the FT4 and maybe 80 for the FT7.

    This ^

Also OP, if you do buy one, ensure you get one that has a cheststrap included otherwise they are not very accurate.

They do measure your calories burned if you input all your details correctly.

    I love my polar ft4.

If you really want to see where you are during your workouts, what you need to change if you are or are not working out hard enough. I would suggest one. It calculates everything for you, Calories, Average HR, Maximum HR, Zone, Duration based on your height and weight. Most importantly if you are looking for an accurate calorie count, go ahead and get one!

bodytronics sell the FT4 for like 60 and FT7 for like 70, coupon code of popo i think for a discount or free shipping or something.

My FT7 records up to 99? workouts. Max/min heartrate, calories burned, time..time in fat burning zone, etc.

I ordered a TF4 from Amazon. I'd like a TF7 but TF4 is ok for starter I guess. Thanks for your guidance peps.
