Leg Curl machine...does this machine hurt anyone else?

The leg curl machine at my gym has an exaggerated bucket seat, so your knees are higher TH an your butt when sitting, and while I do "feel the b urn" when I'm using it I also feel a dull pain through the top part o fmy thigh. I figured I was using it wrong but I'm not, it just hurts.
Until someone can convince me otherwise I've decided that the design of the machine is impractical and the sea should be leveled like normal chair. Either that or the machine was meant to be used by someone taller; I'm 5'4.

Any advice?

Seems like its not adjusted for you. Maybe SLDL or lunges would be a better option for now.

Pain isnt a sign of progress.

Is this the seated leg curl machine or leg extension machine? There's a difference on what muscle it targets.

If an exercise hurts you in tendon rather than muscular going to failure pain, don't do it. We aren't all shaped to do everything!

I don't use any machine that causes me pain in anything other than the muscle that I'm currently working on.

pick up a bar and do some squats, lunges, and deadlifts, leg curl machines are crap.

The leg curl machine at my gym has an adjustment so the seat moves up and down (it's also flat - no scoop). If this one doesn't, you might want to try adding a flat pad to the seat to lift you up more to see if the pain stops. If neither works, ask a staff member to teach you a squat or something off the machine to work you more directly. You don't want to injure yourself because of a poorly designed machine.

Squats and deadlifts are always the answer.

Try this first and see if there is any difference. Your knee should align with the cam (pivot point of the arm of the lever). If not, then slide the seat forward or back to align. Pads should be snug on top of your thighs. If your legs lift up off the seat, then the pads aren't snug enough on top.
