I can't eat fruit...

Alright, now this is weird, but I can't eat a full serving of fruit without getting a stomach ache. It's mostly apples; I'll get 2/3 of the way through, and my stomach will hurt. And it's every type of apple too (although maybe not green apples, but I wouldn't know because I dislike green apples and never eat them). Does anyone know why that might happen?
I do have a very sensitive stomach. I'm lactose intolerant and meat (regardless of the kind) gives me horrible heart burn.

Acid Reflux? I have this same problem and apples , well most fruit, off and on. I eat my apples with PB and it helps somewhat. Try an over the counter acid medication like prilosec (omporezole) or zantac (rantadine). If one doesnt work try the other, making sure they arent the same active ingredients. Every one is different and the rantadine works for me.. and yes generic works just as well as that pricey zantac stuff.0

apples are pretty acidic and are hard to digest.
you could try cooking your fruit to see if that helps.0 -

haha, I actually JUST took a generic rantidine tablet! I have acid reflux a lot, but it's a different kind of discomfort. But I won't rule acid reflux out. But now that you mention it, I don't think I've ever had the same reaction when eating apples with peanut butter, so maybe that is it after all!0 -

I'll try that, thanks =]0 -
Unless you really want to eat fruit, fill up with fresh vegetables instead!
Fruit can be very acidic and that can upset a delicate stomach very easily. If you are going to eat fruit, try and make sure you get the most out of each bite. Go for stuff like berries, and other darkly colored fruits. They have the most nutrition per bite! That way you can eat less, but still get a lot out of them!0 -

Great advice, thanks! Berries are usually pretty kind to my stomach anyway =]0 -

Because of this:
I do have a very sensitive stomach. I'm lactose intolerant and meat (regardless of the kind) gives me horrible heart burn.0 -
I have a pathological gastric hypersecretory condition similar to Zollinger Ellison syndrome and I have to take massive doses of acid reducing medicine twice a day or any food at all - meat, fruit, veggies, etc - will make me ill. And I am horribly prone to stomach ulcers.
You may want to check with the doctor and see if they can get that figured out. I finally went in when even a banana made me sick, and I can tell you that I feel a thousand times better as long as I take my medicine.0 -
I can't eat apples alone or I get sick. I'm sure it has to do with the acid in the apples. Eat it with something else and definitely make sure not to eat it on an empty stomach. I end up eating apples with cheese or peanut butter and at the end of lunch after eating my sandwich or something else first.0

If you like apples you can try buying the packs of apple slices. I used to not be able to eat a whole apple, but did really like apples, so that was what I did.0

I'm going to the doctor on Wednesday, so I will definitely bring it up. Thanks!0 -

It sounds as though you have an intolerance to acidic fruit. You haven't got a stomach ulcer have you?0 -

Oh gosh... I hope not!0 -
I would suggest getting a hydrogen breath test for fructose malabsorption. I have the same problem. Try peeling the skin off before eating too, as its harsh on the digestive system. My friend's a naturopath and always peels her apples due to pesticides, but i know a few people who get stomach aches from the peel. Don't underestimate the fructose test, if its picked up, even minimising no go foods has made a world of difference for me0
