I'm throwing my bf and gf a surprise 33rd birthday party this Friday and really need some ideas on somethings to cook. I'm thinking a lot of finger food but would like to have some healthy and some not so healthy because I know everyone does not eat what I eat lol.....Some good drinks would also help to.....So let me have some ideas MFP:flowerforyou:

You can make a real easy low cal veggie dip by mixing a hidden valley ranch packet with some greek yogurt! I took this to a party once and no one beleived me that it was low cal.

    skinnytaste.com is a really good website!! :P
What I always used to do at home parties is little sandwiches!
Cut the bread in small pieces and put anything you want on it.
Like a bit of ham, eggs, lettuce etc :)
    Everyone adores them!! :)

One of my favorite party meals is to set up a taco bar, and let everyone make their own plate of tacos or taco salad. It makes it very easy to accomodate everyone's differing diets and restrictions. If you've got a crock pot, it's easy to cook boneless, skinless chicken breasts with salsa, then shred it and serve it right from the crock pot!

The fruit salsa with cinnamon chips at allrecipes.com is a wonderful, light dish for a party. You just dice up just about any variety of fruit (I use strawberries, kiwis, apples, and peaches), add a bit of jam or jelly (sugar-free would be great) and serve it with chips made from tortillas sprayed with butter Pam, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, and then baked. You could use the 100-calorie tortillas from La Tortilla Factory. It's just like salsa and chips, but fruity and quite addictive.

Pita chips and hummus, veggies and the aforementioned ranch packet mixed into greek yogurt, tortilla chips and a couple of salsas.

I typically say, "Sod it!" (because my inner monologue is often British) and make yummy things because it's a party.

But one yummy and not terribly unhealthy thing is the filling for Southwest eggrolls, in wonton baskets.

I like to go simple, because I like to eat that way; I'd put out:

Veggies (celery, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, peppers) and hummus (lower fat if you can help it), http://glutenfreegoddess.blogspot.ca/2007/12/get-your-hummus-onits-party-time.html
cut up fruit (whatever is in season, strawberries, grapes, apples)
    Cheeses (this can get expensive!)
low-fat/low fat crackers or pita's cut up.
    Guacamole, artichoke dip (http://glutenfreegoddess.blogspot.ca/2010/12/hot-artichoke-dip-recipe-gluten-free.html)
Some sort of bar with lots of oats, dried fruit and honey etc. in it (http://glutenfreegoddess.blogspot.ca/2010/12/raspberry-coconut-almond-cookie-bars.html)

Angel food cake is a pretty good choice and airy. you could put it with some cool whip and strawberries

I really like this Gluten Free Goddess. She does Vegan/Vegetarian stuff for me and other stuff for meat eaters:

Boo. When I saw the subject line I thought you were looking for a Theme Party ideas - THEN I would have AWEsome and AMAzing ideas - THAT is right up my alley. Food on the other hand, I am no good at that... I keep it simple and put my details into the decor and costumes!!! LOVE Parties! • Good post! I'm getting lots of ideas. Thanks.

Here's one from me: Everyone loves fresh salsa and it's SO good for you! Chop up about 4 medium beefsteak tomotoes with about 2 smallish white onions. Add a generous amount of freshly chopped cilantro. Let it sit for at least an hour. Have some low cal/fat high-fibre chips on hand as well as the crap the masses eat <wink> and you should make everyone happy.
