Pain when running on flat track

Hey question for anyone who jogs/runs. So I have been jogging and my usual course takes me up and down some hills, not huge ones but decent...and good variation. Anyhoo, last night I went to the track to time my mile, and my left leg started KILLING me, from my ankle up the front of my leg to my knee. This only happens when I run the flat track, never on my normal route. So why? Is it because the hills/variation help stretch out my calve muscles?? Anyone esle ever experienced something similiar?

It's hard to diagnose these problems without actually seeing your running form but I'm going to guess that you're probably running at a faster pace on the track than on the road and your stride changes.
Pay close attention to your normal pace and stride and them , consciously, try to emulate that on the track.0 -
Thanks, I will. That makes sense because my time was faster on the track.0
