Shin splints

Hoping someone can help. When I walk at home (on the sidewalk/road) I am fine. When I walk on a treadmill I am fine. But, when I walk at work (wearing the same shoes) I get shin splints every single time. What might I be doing to cause this; or what can I do to prevent it? Thanks in advance for your tips, and here's to being a happy LOSER! :drinker:

Hi there, I am not too sure what is causing it but I get them too and have found the only solution for me is to wear shoes specifically for running (even though I am only walking). Seems to do the trick for me as I haven't had shin splints for quite a while now :-)
Hope this helps :-)0 -
I'm having the same problem, but I only get mine while trying to run. I think its just too much force caused by my weight on my muscles and joints. However, if you are walking the same speed and wearing the same shoes, I'm really not sure what your cause could be I imagine you are walking on a similar hard surface? Are you walking on more of an incline when you are at home and treadmill? An incline actually reduces the force on your muscles and joints as you walk. My only guess is the surface is different in some way.0

Good point. I actually do walk up an incline at home and on the treadmill! Thanks!0
