What do you want for your birthday??
Hi lovelies
My birthday is in a week and I need help. What the heck do I ask for from my dad??
I'm asking my mom for a heart rate monitor. I'm really excited for it, but I'm not holding my breath quite yet. My mom is notorious for getting what you want, but in the inexpensive nonfunctional form. lol I asked for an FT40 but I could just get a pedometer. lol Asking her was easy though cuz she's noticed I've lost weight and knows I'm working at it.
As for my dad, I have no idea. He didn't get me anything last year, so I'm trying to milk this for all it's worth. lol I don't particularly need anything fitness related, but I'm open to ideas. I already have a food scale, a regular scale, clothes, hand weights, a gym membership. If there's something I absolutely need, let me know. Otherwise, I think I wanna wait till he notices I've lost before I talk about it, that way I know he's actually noticing and not looking for it just because I brought it up.
So what the heck should I ask for?? My dad isn't the type to come up with ideas on his own, he asks what you want and he gets it. (Probably why I didn't get anything last year, I didn't ask! lol)
BTW, I'm literally the girl who has everything. I love my phone, laptop, I don't really need any clothes (and don't want to buy anything new yet). I've thought about asking for a tablet, but I really don't need one and don't know if I could find anything in the dollar range I'd feel comfortable asking for.
I'm the type that likes to make things count too, I like getting things I need. I'm not interested in collecting lipglosses and whatnot. I know, I'm difficult. My parents hate me for it. lol
Help!

Don't hate me! Birthdays weren't really celebrated growing up so I'm always kind of skewed on these things...,
Maybe if you don't want or need anything - you just forego the gifts. Or ask them to donate to a charity in your name?0 -
if I was to ask for anythinggg... I'd ask for gym membership fees to be paid for me. for however long = an amount your comfortable with.

Well I get to go to the gym free through my school, however, I think we have to pay for the summer. That's an idea!
Julie: You say not to hate you but then you make it so hard not to! hahaha jkjk. I know that's the natural way to go, and if I really couldn't come up with anything I wouldn't bring up a present. I'm just trying to see what I may need that I just haven't thought of yet or something lol. And my dad would totally look at me crazy if I brought up the charity thing hahaha. He'd probably just not do it. lol0 -
all I want is my back scratched for 60 straight minutes. I mean that literally, no double entendre0

Fancy that you asked......mine is in 3 weeks
I have a few wishes.....:happy:0 -
My birthday was a month ago yesterday. My dad got me a Keurig. He's been ontop of it with gifts lately. I mentioned one time that I needed a new crockpot. Ended up getting one for Christmas.0

I'm asking for a spa day, or part of one, or gift certificates towards one. I regularly go for a pedicure, but I've never been for anything else. By my birthday, I should be close to 50lbs down and will want to spoil myself by that point, so figure that the family might as well chip in for it too. I'm thinking massage, facial, mani/pedi, and who knows what else. It is going to be a way to really feel good about myself and where I have gotten to.0

Mine is in a few weeks and I'm getting a Kindle Fire! I'm so excited!0

I really want a Kindle. I have been using the Kindle app on my iphone while on the treadmill or elliptical but its just to small..lol..it really makes the time go by so much faster.
Happy early birthday!0 -
My b-day is coming up soon as well...I just want to have a good day . AND a day to splurge!0

My birthday was today! Personally, I didn't ask for anything. I'd rather celebrate an achievement than a circumstance... I had no choice in being born today, so why should I celebrate it? However, my parents were super awesome and celebrated it anyways. My dad made a really yummy (and healthy) low calorie deep dish veggie pizza, because he knows that I'm watching my weight, and my mom got me a really yummy ice cream red velvet cup cake. And both my parents pitched in to buy me a bathroom scale because theirs is really inaccurate. I'm super thankful for having a really awesome day, but for me-- I don't care about the material things. As long as my friends&family are happy, I'm happy.0

To the OP, ask for another year of health and love from him and from you. That will be a wonderful gift.0

Thanks guys for the suggestions!
Just to clarify, I'm totally aware that I don't need to ask for anything. Clearly I didn't ask for anything last year, I said he didn't get me anything. However, when the opportunity arises, I'm definitely going to look into my options. I don't ask my parents for much, but when they expect to get me something I try to make it worthwhile!
And happy birthday to those who mentioned it!0 -
Well my b-day is coming in June, so I either wouldn't mind a nicer pedometer, or to drop my final five pounds and just keep it off for good!!! Oh I could also handle a nice trip to Vegas and win some cash there to!!0

I'd like a fit bit, or media fit thingy, or a couple of hair salons appointments taken care of for me...I cracked my kindle screen a while ago too. New running shoes,(toe is worn out of mine) , there is a silversmith who makes bespoke itmes I adore, I could go on and on.....
I can always name things I'd like!!
Chances of getting them???? maybe if I'm very, very patient!0 -
Personally, I want a medium depth chemical peel for these 3 forehead wrinkles so I can quit wearing fringe!
As for someone of your age, how about a gift card to your fav store? I love receiving those, especially good for those who are needing smaller clothes0 -
Something I can 'give' myself-abs;D
Something I need help getting- a home that will allow me to adopt the most perfect dog. She was rescued from a highkill shelter in SC. She has since been in boarding for a month. Poor babe!0 -
I don't want any "things", but a nice travel adventure - perhaps to Thailand or Africa.0
-
Mines coming up in may and I'm thinking of getting a body media fit device. Of course I'll be getting it on my own as I'm 35. I'm lucky if I get a phone call from my parents!0
-
You could ask for a new (favorite) outfit. New clothes are good during weight loss or maintaing periods! For me at least! Lol0

My birthday is in a couple weeks, and my husband recently asked me what I would like. I immediately started researching heart rate monitors...lol! I haven't completely decided on the one I want, but I'm super-excited about it. I have no idea what to recommend for you, though, so happy birthday!0

We'll let you win it, but you're not leaving here with it.0 -

ahahaha! I love this!0 -
I'm no help. All I ever want for my b-day is to spend time with my family and chocolate cake! I'm not changing that either. This year we just bought a slice from the bakery and shared it. Mmmmm, perfect!
If your dad was going to buy you something anyway, I love new workout clothes, especially tops and sports bras from VS. It's fun to look good while working out. =D0 -
I don't know what you're into, but best gifts I've received are:
From my boyfriend - A Tokidoki bag (great for dragging around my stuff and waterproof).
From best friends - Hard copies of my favourite books (I have a kindle, so only really special books live on my physical shelf). EDIT: Also, homemade baked goods and craft supplies.
Things I've hinted at wanting: Pretty jewellery, A nicely bound copy of Paradise Lost, Polar HRM (You've got his covered already), sports bras (boyfriend has actually already said I will be going with him to buy some soon because he wants to "Invest in my breasts" Haha), and gift cards for Victoria Secret (I'm urging to spend some money there now that we have them in Canada).
Oh, and I'm a November baby, so anyone who can't think of what to give me is always welcome to donate to my Movember team (been a proud supporter for the last two years) or any of the other charity stuff I'm involved in.
Last year, my Dad bought me tickets to a Toronto FC game (he lives in another province) so I could take my "Little" from Big Brothers and Sisters.0 -
