do any of you NEED exercise??

Not to burn cals or eat more just to feel good?

I started MFP two weeks ago tomorrow... in those two weeks I've had I think 2 days without exercise. Before this, I didn't exercise a whole lot but now I feel like I need it?? I didn't exercise today, only did about 20 mins yesterday (I usually do 45-hour a day) and I've felt sluggish all day. I also had a pretty high calorie day yesterday (I ate at maintenance which is about 2100 calories because company came over)

Does this happen to anyone else? is my body already trained to need exercise?

    since starting the longest I've gone without exercising is 3 days in a row. For me it's a combination of fear and the fact crummy if I don't. I refuse to revert, my body really does crave it now :)

    When I exercise, it fills me up with energy the whole day. If I skip a day (which I hate to do...makes me feel horrible) I am sluggish and feel lazy. Exercise has just become part of my regular life now!

    I need exercise to relieve my stress levels!!
    I haven't gone to the gym in three days and I feel like a train wreck.
    I don't go because I need to lose weight or anything but I love going for the way it makes me feel on the inside :)

    I think everyone's body needs some type of exercise. Sedentary people don't really seem to be the happiest people for the most part.

    Yep, I need the challenge and the competition outside of the professional environment. I also need the positive social aspects as always train in a group.

    yep i need it.

    even though i got 80 pounds overweight i've always exercised.

    greatly helps with stress. plus it's one of the few things in my life where i can set goals and be in 100% control of reaching those goals; it's the one thing where hard work 100% of the time = great results.

    my old job was very stressful. one month i didnt exercise at all. i was miserable, lots of stress eating, crying, random anger bouts. then when i got back into it, i felt the work stress much less.

    I wish I knew 4 years ago how "sweet" endorphins are... I'm definitely hooked now. I eat to exercise, more than the other way around.

    Haha!! so true, There was this one day where I was moody and tired, my husband told me to go out for a run so I did and felt on top of the world. Exercising give you endorphins (feel good hormones) I think I'm an addict.......LOL

    Funny my hubby and I were talking about this tonight. The last few days I have been taking a walk before bed and come home have a snack only to hit my pillow and zzzzzz. I wake up with tons of energy too.

    Last night I didnt and had a hard time falling asleep due to not being able to unwind and didnt wake with a bunch of energy either. The before bed walks (which are at the crack of dawn since I work grave yards) help me clear my mind. First 5-10 mins is work and by the time I am hitting the last 30-40 its zen. Very few people are out. Very few cars. Just me and the birds.

    Other than that yes I need to exercise now. I feel saner.

    oh it's the best when you feel like crap!

    I always crave exercise when I'm doing uni work.. I try and rush it and finish early so I can go to the gym! very easy to get addicted.

    If I don't exercise, I turn into a monster! I get so irritable and miserable! I dont go every day though - Tuesdays and Thursdays/Fridays are my days off (alternate Thurs and Fridays)

    Endorphin addict here. I've never had trouble sleeping, but if I have a day off exercising I really do toss and turn, and just feel quite sluggish generally.

    I've also made some fantastic friends through classes, so I get to see them every day - a lovely bonus :)

    But yup, it's the answer to everything. Fatigue, period pain, stress...I do force myself to have one day off a week to give my body a break, but if I end up working late or am unexpectedly unable to make a class I get terribly antsy.

    Could be worse, could be smack.

    Yes, me. I hate not exercising on weekends. I am going to start lifting soon and I am so excited! Its weird.

    ive always exercised. i exercise for my love of sports, not to lose weight.
  • If I don't at least go for a run, I feel like my day was wasted. I've never been someone who was reluctant to exercise so pretty much everyday I try to log at least 3 miles. If my legs hurt and I physically can't run, I'd rather walk than do nothing at all.

    Yes. I get really really twitchy taking days off. Right now Friday is my day off and even that one I usually end up walking.

    you dont NEED exercise for weight loss... but you NEED it to be healthy and strong... if you dont exercise you are not healthy no matter what you look like in the mirror. lack of exercise will contribute to poor cardiovascular health and low bone density to name a few

    I was just thinking yesterday how I am much less sedentary in the last month or so. Before I really started focusing on my health, I would be so tired after work and toddler-wrangling that I just wanted to veg on the couch at night.

    Now I alternate bedtime with my husband so I can go to the gym or swim the nights he puts LO to bed, and I get home from the gym and feel motivated to clean the kitchen from dinner. I go to bed with a clean kitchen and in turn feel so much better about myself, which does make me happier.

    And at least one of our two weekend days recently, we get up early (8AM, which is still sleeping late), get breakfast and then either go to the park or to do something fun, or get busy in the yard. It's incredible how just 3-4 hours of good yard labor makes me feel like I'm a person of worth. The sedentary "we'll do it next weekend" lifestyle was definitely dragging us down.

    And bingo again. A huge key to my happiness right now is a combo of being less sedentary (exercising and motivating myself to do more housework/yardwork/honey-do list/etc.) and being on Prozac. I think they truly go hand in hand.

    If I dont exercise regularly, my mental health suffers. I get over-sensitive, have a harder time coping with stress and I tend to get teary eyed in situations that I can normally handle with class and logic. I need it. I need it to keep me balanced and calm, plus when I exercise- my body makes drugs that make me happy.
