My BMR is 1,422/calories. Does that mean that is how many calories I should eat in a day? I was thinking of doing a 1200 calorie diet. I need help...

Your BMR is what your body needs to function if you did nothing all day, like if you were in a coma. You should not eat below your BMR. If you go to fat2fitradio.com and use the BMR calculator it will tell you how many calories you should be eating to get to your goal. If you eat under your BMR you will still lose weight most likely, but you will lose muscle not just fat.
I'm sure you'll get other more elaborate answers in here but there's the jist.
You can search BMR in the forum search function for more technical explanations0 -
