Injured :(

Last week I tried a new podcast for my C25k, where you are supposed to step to the beat of the music. I found the jogging part too slow for me (previously I had been jogging too fast), and by the time I did my fourth run (I'm on week 1) my knee was really hurting. I haven't done it since, keeping active by riding on my exercise bike as I had no pain at all while on it.
I did some exercises on the wii fit yesterday. Torso twists, lunges, shallow squats, things like that. Today, my knee is hurting much more Initially the pain was on the inner side, beside the kneecap. This morning it feels like it's underneath the kneecap and it's a little bit swollen. It hurts most when descending stairs, or lifting it for the normal walking action. It doesn't hurt at all when I'm still, I have have a full range of movement if I'm not bearing any weight on it. So definitely an injury. I'm a little worried about my bike ride today, but if that goes well with no sign of pain, should I just stick to bike riding until the knee is completely healed? How long do you think that would take? And is it worth buying a support?

Follow this: RICE..
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation
Definately rest up until it feels better or you could do yourself more damage (take it from someone who knows!)0 -
I have the same problem. its the knee (inner side beside knee cap) 1st was actually the arch of foot then the pain on my knee started when i started jogging. it did hurt for 2 days esp at the end of the day thats why i couldnt do my regular 1 hour walk, i did 30min and skipped the jogging. Last night, i didnt do any workouts coz it was still hurting and this morning it kinda felt better.
Thus, you do have to listen to your body if it hurts give it a rest it'll recover.
An option i have is to swim if my knee or foot still hurts that is, or other low impact exercises.0 -
my knee is like this. For me its a condition where the muscle isn't strong enough to support the kneecap. Squats and leg presses help to strengthen the muscle once its not hurting but whilst your in pain the best thing you can do is rest it x0

If you are new to jogging, remember
BABY STEPS. As in, take it slow, set easy goes, build up pace and distance slowly over time. If you have been unfit all your life, your body isn;t going to adjust in 2 weeks to be asked to run, just cause you read information on running and kept track of calories.
Build up slow, rest is key as well0
