I've been on Lupron for two and a half years. I found that my BMR (metabolism) decreased by 33% so I had to decrease my daily goal calories by that much. It has been a struggle, and I haven't been able to drop to my goal weight, but I also haven't gained any extra. I just had my last shot this week, and I'm done in six months. I can't wait to be done with it. Good luck

I have been taking Lupron for 6 months and I am gaining weight like crazy. I have been under 1300 calories and working out like crazy. Its so frustrating I dont want to take it anymore. I am gaining weight in places I never have before. I am the biggest I have ever been in my life. Its helped with my PMS and no more cramps but the side effects are not worth it to me.

Has anyone had joint pain and muscular pain and twitching after lupron? I took lupron 6 months and 6 months later still have the after effects, the hot flashes were only during the shots, but now besides the aches I do feel tired with lack of energy and harder to lose weight. I was doing T25 with my husband n son and they both lost significant weight 15-20 lbs in 6 weeks. I lost 2, no exaggeration. So has anyone experienced something like this and know how long it will stay in my system? :(

OMG.. the same thing happened to me. I only had to do one 3 month round of Lupron 3 years ago for surgery and to this day it is hard for me to lose weight and the joint aches still occur occasionally. I did the 10 day smoothie cleanse as well as exercised every day and where all of my friends lost 20+ lbs i only lost 2lbs. I am going to get my hormone levels checked because that to me was crazy. It almost made me want to just give up on this weight loss journey.

Ladies all I can say is LUPRON has ruined my life I wish someone would have warned me!!! Do not take it!!! Some side effects are forever and it is not a cure at all! Doctors get major financial kick back. If I save one girl the pain of this poison then posting was worth it! After one shot my hormones have never come back and the body pain and night sweats are insane!

I'm sorry about your problems related to Lupron but this is a 2 y.o. thread and I doubt any of the posters on it have been waiting for more replies.

Fwiw, I took Lupron in 2004/2005 during fertility treatments. I never had bad side effects, but I never got any real good effects (i.e., pregnancy) from any of the $$$ of meds I was on either. I remember reading up on Lupron, though, and the side effects are something to be taken into consideration, as they are for any medication.

Yes I am currently taking Lupron for prostate cancer. I was a Vietnam Vet that was exposed to Agent Orange. In 2001 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer by my elevated PSA. I had no other symptoms. I also started with a shot of Casodex and then radiation and afterwords the PSA went down and stayed down. I was given 10 years to live.

In 2006 my PSA went back up and I was started on Lupron. My side effects were weight gain, fatigue and loss of muscle mass. Hot flashes were common (and this is interesting - they occurred only after I ate or drank something. When you eat you burn some calories in the process of digestion. That burning of calories triggered the hot flash which lasted about 5 minutes and then was done.)

So now in November of 2017, I am on a 6 month dose and do that for a year. The PSA goes down to below 1 and then I go off the Lupron for a year until the PSA goes back up closer to 4 or a little over. It's now been 16 years since my original diagnosis . I'm 69 now and I've noticed a few new things happening which should be good news to you men out there. I have started going to the gym and working out with free weights and the elliptical trainer. I have lost weight and have started to tighten up all around. I took a casual look in the mirror the other day and saw some definition in the chest and arms, not a lot mind you, but some.

One other thing and this is in my case only, the erectile dysfunction cannot be solved with Viagra or any pills. My libido is very low now so I don't think about sex that much, but I don't mind helping my woman achieve her orgasm and cuddling up afterward.

I have had 3 Lupron shots (at three month intervals) and have noticed NO
WEIGHT GAIN. I do watch what I eat, especially quantities, do strength training 3 days a week, and
Training on the bike 4 days a week.
