I do cardio workouts when I exercise, which is basically running,
I used to run every day and it didn't bother me, now i never feel like running and when I do start running I get bored and stop.

Does anyone have an idea of how I can be motivated to run??

  • give yourself some kind of reward when you get done running.obviously not a snack or anything, but if you have a hobby or something you enjoy doing, give yourself some time for that after you do your running, and restrict yourself from your hobby at other times, so you are more looking forward to it.

have been a consistent runner for almost a year now, I run almost every single day especially if I'm training for something, but sometimes I get bored. I noticed that when I took a week off from it I was sooo excited to get back out there! So maybe try taking a break, ooorrr do something else! Especially if you aren't training for anything it would be good to try a different cardio, GOOD LUCK!

put a skimpy bathing suit in front of you so its visible when you wake up. think about how you want to look in that bathing suit this summer
  • This probably wont work for everyone, but I love Audiobooks. I only let myself listen to them while I workout so I tend to workout longer so I can listen to more and I hardly ever skip a day just because I dont want to do it.

    Hope this helps.

I think if you are bored you might want to try another form of cardio exercise. Try a class at the gym or an outdoor sport like bike riding, rollerskating, swimming, etc. I find that for myself, a dance class helps keep my mind occupied and I get distracted from the fact that I am working out for a full hour. When I run, I have to mix things up with a lot of intervals (walking, sprinting, jogging) or I get bored too.

When I got bored with running I started picking up cycling. I also find giving my self race goals and little rewards helps too.

There is a great site that you can download great and FREE running music. It is MotionTraxx and you can choose your beats per minute and the training goal- like 5 K or 10 K or whatever. They are fast paced and interesting. They helped me complete my first half marathon!!!

Maybe try some new running music or running at a different time of day if possible. That seems to help me a bit when Im in a funk.

sign up for a run and then find a training schedule (www.runnersworld.com or halhigdon.com) I find that if I have a scheduled run and have to train that I am more motivated to get out there and do it!

I definitely ditto the take a small break from the running and try something different. I get bored easily and like to switch my workouts up. Not only is it good for the mind, but good for the muscles too!! When you cross-train, you work different muscles and your body has to work harder to perform the new activity - therefore, more calories burned!! Do that for a week or so and then you may be excited about running again. Personally, I like kickboxing stuff. Good luck!

Thats a good idea, I want to read while I walk but unfortunatlly my blonde side prevents me from walking and doing much of anything else. I think I will look into the audiobooks!

I took the music on my Ipod and made an interval set. Actually 4

It starts out slow, then a bit faster, then running fast, then slow again. I do different moves for each song like walking slower but punching with my fists to raise my heartrate.

Of course I also dont care what ppl think so:laugh:

There is something about the music that actually moves me along. If Hey Ya is on I just CANT stop........I have to jog and do a cross step shuffle that helps core and inner and outer legs. It is weird.

    Anyway have some FUN!!:flowerforyou:
