yesterday i decided to go out for a run after reading the couch to 5 km website.
i thought i would start halfway through because i feel confident in my ability but i was incredibly wrong. so in the end i started on week one like you are supposed to.

anyone else doing this/ done this i know some have already. i do it to the podcasts they are great to have someone else doing them with you. feels a bit like the old interval training.

this morning my thighs are like jelly its great to have the burn back. looking forward to tommorrow for the next one too. just hope that all the inspiration keeps the ciggs away.

ps does anyone else get embarassed about excrecising outside in hideous "jogging bottoms" lol it must just be me plus i have to wear glasses talk about confidence killer, i go purple when i excercise but i'll think of the future i won't always be purple lol

Congratulations!! The first day is the hardest. The second you'll be like "ok, i can do this" and the third.. you'll be even more confident. Then you'll start week 2 and that gets a little harder, but its definitely doable!!

Ive done the C2-5k off and on for the past couple months. Got up to week 4 and took some time off because I injured my ankle and it took a good month to heal. I was amazed to be able to start out again at week 5 once I recovered.

If you think the legs feel good now, just wait... I cant believe how much toning it has done to my legs and abs!

    :)

yes I am doing the couch to 5k as well. I had downloaded the podcasts ages ago and they were just sitting on my laptop. I got the first week on my ipod now. I do it at the gym on the treadmill, but am thinking of going outside for week 2. The music is better than I expected as well

yeah the music is cool its good to have the variety i can't stand listening to the same stuff over so i'll wait and see what each week is like. only reason i don;t do it on the treadmill is that fact that it is so boring. plus im quite new to my area so im gonna explore all the new side streets and areas, already found a park with a lake innit i was like what?, this is a city ha!!

Yes I know. Apparently the treadmill isnt as good for your legs anyway. We have a park near us and I could do rounds around the lake as well, and run on the grass even. If the weather stays nice this weekend, I will give it a go with week 2.

yeah, big difference from tredmill to outside, outside forces you to stabalize yourself a lot more because of the minute differences in terrain (even on paved areas). You're leg and core muscles get a lot more work then on a tredmill.

Generally I try to run outside at least once a week, weather permitting. Make sure you get good running shoes though, running on pavement is very hard on the feet and knees (and hips, and back...etc.) and I would also recommend besides the c2-5K program, also looking into some of the beginning runners form guides, as correct form when running can make a world of difference to how you feel afterward.

you can find some good guides to running form on www.runnersworld.com

in the beginners section there's lots of great articles. Also in the tools section there's some great tools on finding the right gear, runner's nutrition, ...etc.

I finished the c25k a couple of weeks ago and now I'm doing the "One Hour Runner" program. I never thought I would be a runner, but it is great!

I just finished week four. I love the program (though last night at the end, I may have been cursing it!) I run outside because it hurts less and keeps me from getting bored. I started to run last summer and could never get much past two miles. Hoping this program is going to get me over that hill. Good luck!
