An Alternative to C25K....

I just wanted to make everyone aware of an alternative to the "Couch to 5K" program. C25K is 9 weeks. This other is 6. I finished it a week ago. As far as getting to be able to run a 5K in this time, you have to run at 6.2mph on the treadmill, because it actually trains you to run for 30 minutes straight. So, 30 minutes at 6.2 is 5K. I think it may be a little more difficult, but I like to get things done as quickly as possible. There is also a plan if you can already run 30 minutes straight, you train to do an hour straight. Anyway, just thought I'd put it out there, because I LOVED IT!! Now before I post the website I want to say TO ALL YOU GUYS......it is on women's health, BUT you are allowed to do it also. We won't tell. Have fun!!

Cool!
Just be really careful. If you're brand new to running, 6 weeks is a very short time to be running distances. The bones, tendons, and ligaments will still have another 6-8 weeks. that's why there's usually so many injuries about 10 weeks into starting running.
You can do this program, but I'd hover at 5k for awhile before moving on to reduce chance of injury.
It IS a much more intense workout, which is pretty neat0 -

I agree with this. I could run a mile straight before I even started the program. If you're just starting it might be a little too much. You can always repeat weeks. Push hard.....but not too hard. Injuries are no fun.0
