Gummi Protein Candies

Why spend $ for sugar free candy at the store? Make up a batch and you'll always have a treat on hand. Each candy gives you 2 grams of protein!

Ingredients (makes 24)
1 packet of Knox gelatin
8 oz Crystal Light or flat diet soda
4 oz boiling water
1 packet artificial sweetener

Mix the gelatin and boiling water in a heat proof bowl. Stir for 30 seconds until gelatin is melted. Check the spoon, there should be no granules. Let bowl sit on the counter for 20-30 minutes until lukewarm, then add sweetener and Crystal Light or diet soda. Stir to mix and pour into heart candy molds. Place in the refrigerator for 1 hour or until set. This method gives a much better flavor than heating all of the liquids to boiling which destabilizes the aspartame.

Not seeing the protein in this???

It's from the gelatin...all gelatin is, is collagen from pigs or cows.
    44% from pig skin
    28% from bovine hides
27% from bones (cow and pig)
the other 1% is from 'other'

how do you store the candy after it is made? kind of a minor detail but I doubt it has 4 calories a candy, as every gram of protein is supposed to have 4 calories correct?

Molds can be bought at Michaels or Jo Ann Fabric stores. I'm sure they'll have them at other craft stores if these are not in your area. Check in the Wilton cake aisles.
