Better Sleep - There's An App For That?

Life is busy. I work long hours, and I don't sleep well. It used to be that because my fiance is such a light sleeper he'd wake multiple times a night and would wake me up. Now, I think I'm past that. I sleep for a good amount of time and don't wake during the night, but it's not quality sleep. I have weird, very vivid dreams and wake feeling as exhausted as when I went to bed - UNLESS, I get to wake to the sun by leaving the curtains open (not an option with my fiance).

Just got myself an Android phone, about a week ago. I've been browsing the apps and I came across a few of these apps that are supposed to monitor your sleep patterns, give you information about how you sleep and wake you at an appropriate time. I remember reading about these when they first came out. In theory, they sound great - I know if you wake at just the right time you do feel REALLY awake, but it's rare.

So, I downloaded one of these apps to try out this weekend. 'Sleep Like A Droid', I think. Just wondering if anyone has used it or any similar app, and if they saw any benefits to being woken based on their sleep pattern?

I downloaded a few...one was really annoying, it would buzz and wake me up in the middle of the night (to monitor REM sleep I believe) I was so out of it I couldn't figure out how to make it stop buzzing! I think it was Sleep Like a Droid.

The ones I liked were the ambient noise ones, and there was a hypnosis one. My only downfall is that usually there is a person that snores really loud next to me, and drowns out the sounds...I have even tried to use headphones...noise cancelling headphones...I can't sleep. *sigh*
