Portion Sizes

I was born and raised in the South, home of fried foods and huge portions.
Now that I have decided to try and eat better I have been checking out some of the foods available at the grocery like the Weight Watchers meals, Lean Cuisine, and others and notice that the portions seem tiny to me. I tried a Weight Watchers meal for dinner tonight and had to eat two of them to feel like I had a meal.
Are those really the size meals most people eat? I have never considered myself a big eater at all, but they just seem so small. Any input would be welcome.
